She may be most well-known by her prolific public profile as ‘The Young Mummy’, but Sophie Cachia is just about one of the most gutsy, get-up-and-go, no-bullshit young women we’ve ever met. She presents a refreshingly relatable perspective not often seen online. She’s a shining example of the every-day wonder-woman, giving an honest, real, brutal, laugh-out-loud, relatable voice to all mum’s and young women out there.
She describes it as ‘boobs, pubes & all’ – keeping it as real as they come, telling it like it is on everything in the life of a mum, wife and young woman.
“I’m very confident and honest in who I am; I’m a mum but I’m also a 26-year-old-young woman. I run my own race. I’m just Sophie and I love what I do,” she says.
While following in her father’s footsteps on her path to a high-flying career in the media, Sophie found motherhood. She became a proud mum to son Bobby at the age of 23. After becoming quite overwhelmed with the vast amount of information on offer for new mothers, Sophie decided it was best to start documenting her own story, and her own experiences. She created a space newto social media – where people could come and openly discuss their highs and lows, without the need to feel pressured to conform to society’s expectations of what a mother should be.
A brilliant wordsmith, Sophie took to her blog to discuss pregnancy, motherhood and everything in between. Little did she know her hobby of writing and sharing her experiences would lead her to become an Australian media sensation, with big-wigs the likes of Mamma Mia requesting her writing prowess. Her following also grew exponentially, with over 250K fans now a part of her ever-growing tribe. She was not only loved for her honesty, wit and grit but she also became highly influential and inspirational, with an incredible number of aspiring ‘mum bloggers’ following in her footsteps.
Despite her popularity, Sophie remains as genuine and as humble as they come, still in disbelief that her online tribe continues to grow.
“I’m very determined, but I’m also really grounded, and I still genuinely sit there and think “why are there all these hundreds of thousands of people following me?”
With a growing media presence, Sophie steps away from her mummy duties and keyboard to regularly undertake roles such as guest speaking, ambassadorships, MC’ing and her recent gig on FM radio. With a passion for media stemming from childhood, she’s a born natural. She’s scored panel positions alongside celebrity mumma’s Mia Freedman and Zoe Foster Blake, and featured regularly on KISS FM with Monty & Meshel in 2016.
Media appearances aside, Sophie is passionate about using her platform to benefit others, developing a strong interest in charities, especially in the fields of children and mental illness.
“I recently threw my Baby Shower, but used the event as a fundraiser for St Kilda Mums. I went into it with the hope of raising $50k for disadvantaged families & children, and we did it! It’s been the most amazing feeling and only fueled my desire to do more charity work.”
Sophie is due to give birth to her second bub in early 2017 – stay tuned for more Keeping Up With The Cachias!
